Job Summary:

The Day Habilitation Services Specialist at The Spectrum Network is responsible for facilitating day habilitation programs and activities designed to support individuals with cognitive disabilities, mental illness, and other barriers to independent living in achieving their personal goals and enhancing their quality of life. This role involves providing participants with direct support, guidance, and supervision and implementing individualized plans and interventions to promote skill development and community integration.

Pay Range: Pay may vary based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred)
• Experience working with individuals with cognitive disabilities, mental illness, or related challenges.
• Knowledge of person-centered planning principles and practices
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

• Empathy and compassion for individuals with diverse abilities and backgrounds
• Ability to implement individualized support plans and adapt interventions as needed.
• Strong problem-solving and crisis-management skills
• Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively.
• Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing needs and situations.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry objects up to 60 pounds.
• Physical stamina to actively participate in recreational and physical activities with participants.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Facilitate day habilitation programs and activities based on individualized support plans and participant preferences.
• Provide participants with direct support, supervision, and guidance during program hours.
• Assist participants in developing and practicing daily living skills, social skills, and recreational activities.
• Implement behavior support strategies and interventions to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
• Support participants in accessing community resources, recreational opportunities, and social activities.
• Document participant progress, behaviors, and interactions according to program requirements and standards
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including case managers, therapists, and direct care staff, to ensure coordinated and holistic support for participants.
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment for participants, always adhering to safety protocols and regulations.

Hours of Work:

• Includes weekdays with occasional evenings or weekends based on program needs.
• Flexibility to adjust the schedule based on participant needs and program requirements.
