Getting Started
We’re ready to work with you!
The first step is to contact us. We typically give prospective clients and their families a tour of our facility, so that they can meet us and learn about all we have to offer.
When they decide to enroll, we guide new clients through a brief intake process. We strive to keep this process brief and to minimize the amount of paperwork involved. Clients and their families can help by supplying us with any needed documents quickly, so that we can start providing services without delay.
During the first 30 days with us, a client has the opportunity to try out programs that match their needs and interests. Then, with input from the client and his or her support team, we create an individualized plan outlining his or her goals and the steps to achieve them. From time to time, we revisit this plan to make sure we’re helping the client make progress toward those goals.

Admission criteria
To participate in our programs, individuals should meet the following criteria:
- be at least 16 years old, except for transition/high school students
- have a diagnosis of disability, substance abuse, mental illness, brain injury, or elderly requiring care
- have vocational, educational or health-related goals
- have a funding source established (county funding, medical assistance, Department of Rehabilitation Services, school districts, etc.) or be able to pay for their services directly
- not be harmful to themselves or others
Individuals who have not established a funding source (and are not paying for services directly) should contact the Iowa Department of Human Services or Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services before working with us.
