The Spectrum Network holds its second annual "A Taste of August"

The Spectrum Network held its second annual "A Taste of August" fundraiser on August 14 at Seed Savers Exchange in Decorah. Over 90 guests gathered for a French-themed evening of fine outdoor dining and lively entertainment.

During the social hour, mime artists Rose Milligan and Kelly Jo Roth entertained the crowd while artist Maxxximum Madcap sketched portraits and musicians Pine Wilson and Ann Streufert performed French cafe music. During dinner, guests dined to the sounds of classical strings, performed by musicians Jaci Wilkinson, Maura Gooden, and Jennifer Fischer.

Throughout the evening guests participated in a silent and live auction of "experiences," bidding on items such as a plane tour over northeast Iowa and an in-home wine tasting by Rubaiyat restaurant.

Sponsored by Infastech and Decorah Bank & Trust, the event raised funds toward the Spectrum Network's services for people who have disabilities and other challenges. Executive Director Toni Smith called the fundraiser "a party for a good cause . . . a celebration of the abundance of the harvest, and the abundance of community support that makes our work possible."
