Iowa authors of disability essays will read in West Union
Contributors to From My Perspective: Essays about Disability will read selections from their essays at West Union Community Library on Saturday, March 6 at 1:00 pm. Co-editors Rachel Faldet and Kris Schanilec will talk about the process of gathering stories for the book, which was published by The Spectrum Network in Decorah last August.
From My Perspective is the outcome of writing workshops held at The Spectrum Network and taught by Faldet, who is assistant professor of English at Luther College. "Stories are a way of thinking about who we are as a community. It's important to hear people's voices, even if they do not have experience writing," said Faldet.
The reading is free and open to the public. For more information or to purchase a book, call 563-382-8401 or visit thespectrumnetwork.org.
